A Working Sheriff

A Record of Accomplishment

Over the last seven years, the Sheriff of Wake County's Office has:

•  Reduced response times – By allocating resources we have put more deputies on the road which has resulted in a more efficient use of resources and faster response times.

•  Improved jail operations - Through speeding the booking process up, it has allowed our deputies more time to spend on the road protecting Wake County citizens and less time processing prisoners.

•  Created a Special Response Team (SRT) – The SRT is ready in a moment's notice to respond to school emergencies and other critical incidents.

•  With the help of donations from Wake County citizens, increased K-9 force from 1 dog to 13 to fight the war on crime and drugs

•  Partnered with Immigration and Customs Enforcement Bureau (ICE) to implement the 287 (g) program, a program that identifies illegal aliens who have been arrested and brought to jail for booking. Only detention officers work in this program.

•  Implemented community outreach programs that include Citizens Well-check Program, Project Lifesaver, and a summer Law Enforcement Adventure Camp for middle school students.

“While I am proud of my successes we face new challenges every day. If I am fortunate to be reelected to this great office I will continue my efforts to keep you safe and will focus on additional areas of crime.” Sheriff Donnie Harrison
